Kitchen Island

YARD SALE FIND:
Cute little island that needed a bit of TLC. Both the front and back are identical (drawer pulls/pushes from either side). The varnished top had deep knife cuts and burns from hot pans.

WHAT I DID:
1. After a good scrubbing I primed the entire base with Kilz and then painted it with Behr “Bolero”.
2. I sanded the top until the scars and burns were no longer visible. I then applied Clark’s Cutting Board Oil and Finish (both are food safe).
3. I added a piece of beadboard to the back side to prevent the drawers from opening on both sides.
4. The skirt is a beautiful tapestry fabric I found at Jo-Ann’s. It was $100 a yard and the day I bought it I not only had a 20% off total purchase coupon but discovered the fabric was 50%! SCORE!
5. Added new ceramic drawer pulls.
